Artist Biography
I am Bailey Maeve, an artist specialising in evolving painting techniques. My artistic journey began at UAL Camberwell and continued with an undergraduate degree from Goldsmith University London.
My work thrives on exploring various paint mediums—acrylic, oil, and spray paints. I strive to reflect aesthetic joy, embracing the essence of painting for its own sake. Guided by colour, texture, and an inherent compulsion to create, my pieces offer comfort from creation to observation.
Driven by personal challenges, I seek positivity through art, sharing hope and resilience. Whether working on a grand canvas or a sketch, I aim to uplift and inspire viewers, finding pleasure in both creation and appreciation.
My portraiture celebrates individuality, portrayed through vivid strokes and contrasting palettes. Colour's emotive power enriches my subjects, extending their presence beyond the canvas, inviting reflection on personal emotions.
Influenced by abstract expressionism and Renaissance figures, my work captures energy and grace. This is amplified by unconventional materials, notably spray paint, drawing from street art's raw creativity and vibrant aesthetics.
My current approach merges pop-expressionist portraiture with abstraction. Borrowing elements of expression, movement, colour, and form, my art encapsulates new perspectives through paint. Themes of joy, resilience, and art's transformative impact are at the heart of my creative exploration.
